40 and pin-ups!

All right my friends! Today is a red letter day! Behold! Chapter 40 of Magical Girl Policy! We finally get to meet a character only heard from the shadows! ooooo who could it be?

But this is not all! The October pin-up image has arrived! The $5 and up patrons voted and the winner was Devil-costumed Kara! Behold the results!

Is she not the most adorable little succubus ever? This commission was done by Badgertastic. Feel free to check out her work! I just loved this image so much that I’ll be using her again for November. This turned out great!

As a reminder I still need more questions from my patrons submitted for the November Q&A and you $5 and up patrons can still vote for the December pin-up. The selections include:

  • Angela (from Magical Girl Policy) in a Christmas Mage outfit
  • Noriko (from Magical Girl Policy) in a Ninja Santa outfit
  • Captain Cali Fawx (from Crew Shift) in a Retro-Space Girl Santa outfit

So, I need a little bit of help with a few things. As you may have noticed I’m a little behind on my image page and my story links in the story section. Would anyone be willing to go through and catalogue what I’m missing and send me an email with that list? I sort of have struggled with time management and if I have the energy to be productive I really want to make sure I’m focusing on writing. On that topic, anyone here struggle with focus? I’m pretty sure I have undiagnosed ADD and I don’t want to get reliant on chemicals to solve my issues. What tips do you all have? How have you all concurred any focus issues you’ve had?

Thanks again for all your support guys. I can’t tell you what a blessing you all have been in my life. I would have never thought in the middle of my hiatus that MGP could ever get this far again. Your comments and well wishes have greatly inspired me and will continue to do so!

Stay clown-free this Halloween!
Taralynn

10/28- Addendum: So I’m hearing from people they can’t leave comments on the new MGP chapters… concerning. Doing some research, the chapters they can’t comment on are the chapters I created after updating the site. THat seems connected… sigh… time to do some research

  1. well worth the wait.
love the idea of the bit bucket. i have seen custom cases before but they were all things like built into a desk or flat on a wall.
Kara the succubus looks so cute!

  2. Nice to see the new chapters. By the way, I left a comment on the chapter 38 I hope you will read.
DISCLAIMER: The comment is in no way intended to offense anybody, and I understand it might sound like a lame critic. So in advance I apologyze in case it does.

  3. Good to have you back! It was a good chapter, it’s nice to see more of Will. Since you asked some reader questions after the chapter, I figured this would be the right place to answer them.
    1) Robynne’s motivations have almost all made sense. I get why he became a spirit guard, why he joined SFEERS, and why he joined the cheerleaders. What I don’t get is why he’s willing to keep the PC case Cammy sent for him. It makes sense that he’d want to stop Cammy, but Rob has never struck me as petty, and keeping the case just to spite her doesn’t seem like a ploy he’d bother with.
    2) Noriko is my favourite non-spirit guard character. She’s very unique and different from the other characters. And who doesn’t like a ninja?
    3) I’m interested in seeing how Rob functions as part of a team. She’s incredibly independent, and is not used to working with other people. I can imagine her doing whatever she thinks is best, and Angela arguing with her about things.
    4) I’m really not all that sure. Cheerleader schemes are not something I’m familiar with.

  4. I’ll do the same thing Reaper did, and answer the questions from the chapter commentary here. (Fun chapter, by the way. It was fun seeing Robynne and Will nerd out.) Also, looking forward to the time skip. If it goes far enough in the future, maybe Uncle Taylor will finally make his appearance? And maybe a Halloween SFEERS party? One where Robynne has to wear a costume? (Bwahaha.) Anyway, answering the questions:

    1) Her motivations? Absolutely. Though I have to agree with Reaper… sometimes she has her mind set and is adamant about something, but then she changes her mind too easily. First time I noticed it was when she decided to be a spy cheerleader. I mean, sure, I get why she changed her mind, it just felt like it happened too quickly and with less complaining than would be realistic. And, of course, the whole thing with the case… if it maybe had some awesome feature that she noticed, or was sure she’d just rebuild it (not that hard, in my opinion), then it might make sense. But still having a hard time buying it as-is. Robynne hasn’t changed that much in the week since her transformation.
    2) Cory and Eli. No question. They make me laugh, and your dialogue with them is amazing. They make any chapter fun.
    3) Probably the two biggest things I think would be trouble as a magical girl are coming up with excuses when she’s in a prior engagement (monster attacks wait for no magical girl) and teamwork. Robynne likes strategy, but without being able to communicate secretly (that we know of) and all of the Spirit Guard being fairly independent, I see chaos in her future.
    4) Two things pop up in my mind. First would be Cammy using Robynne to get SFEERS to vote her way, which she’d have to do without lying or getting the SFEERS officers to start distrusting her. The other thing, which could cause some devious awkwardness, would be Cammy trying to set Robynne up with some guy she wants to manipulate… just like she did with Angela. Oh, and a third… maybe try to get her to promote to people that don’t respond to the traditional Promotion methods? Like the shy nerds and hardcore academics, for instance.

    Hope that helps.

  5. Regarding your question about ADD:

Some of this may work, but there is no guarantee:

    1. Stay away from sugar in any form: No coke, no sweets, etc.
    2. Always turn off your electronical devices if you don’t use them. Especially while sleeping. By turning off I don’t mean on stand by, but complety off. If neccessary, then pull the power.
    3. Train your brain with meditation exercises.
    4. Neuro-feedback therapy can help. But it’s rather expensive.

  6. As someone who struggles with adult ADD, I can only offer a few pointers.

1: Contrary to what TheFallen suggested, you can try using Caffeine as a substitute for any medications. The go-to medication for ADD, Ritalin, is actually a mild stimulant. If Ritalin would work for you if you took it, Caffeine -might- have the same effect. Note: I have tried this, and it did work for me, to an extent. However, it’s very hard for me to moderate my intake, and too much is as bad as not having any. In the end, I gave up on this option, but you may have better results.

2: Exercise. Tire yourself out regularly. Something about being physically tired seems to focus the mind. Go for a run for a couple of miles, or however far you need to go to wear yourself out. Go for a bike ride. Do something strenuous. Then give yourself a 15 minute breather and see how well you can focus on a mental task afterward. I’ve always felt more focused when I’m physically tired.

3: Give your mind time to wander. If you’re unable to focus because some little train of thought keeps distracting you, then let the train of thought run its course, and then come back to what you’re trying to focus on. Sometimes, being too strict about what you’re trying to focus on can be part of the problem. Give yourself a break, but don’t give yourself too much break.

If you really are struggling with one form or another of adult ADD, you have to understand that nothing you do is going to be a quick fix. Any successful method for dealing with ADD requires a certain amount of self-discipline. Medications and chemical solutions are a crutch to dealing with ADD, but just like with real crutches, you have to do the walking. The crutch just makes it easier.
