Well… this is far too long an update but… Chapter 59 of MGP is up!
So… over a year without posting.
Yikes.
I suppose I owe everyone an explanation. This is the part I’ve been dreading… there isn’t an explanation. I’ve just… put off writing because I felt ashamed I hadn’t let people know… which lead to more shame and… yeah, you can see the non-virtuous cycle that creates.
I hate it because it’s just… so lame of me. I know so many of you will be all, “Oh Taralynn! Worry about your mental health and…” yeah, sorry but that’s not this. It’s not a mental health thing. It’s me just being… crummy as a person. I should have at least had the guts to admit it but I just didn’t like the idea of saying something without having a product for you all to enjoy.
It’s crummy behavior on my part and I’m going to do my part to make sure it doesn’t happen again. I hope my apology is a small comfort but I have a long way to go to build up trust again. Such trust is hard earned and easily lost. I hope I can build it up.
In other news with this chapter I’m trying something new. I’ve gotten feedback that Robynne’s voice doesn’t feel like she has an accent most of the time. It’s getting a little tell-not-show, so I’m doing what I can to improve that without going too far. Let me know how it feels in this chapter.
In other news, I wanted to thank Mcelligot who mad an AWESOME logo for Mega Mash Family game Robynne is about to play. I think it turned out amazing. Great work!

Welcome back! I understand the spiral of pushing things back because you have nothing to show and becoming even more unready to get back to it. So I hope you succeed in your endeavors to avoid the dreaded silent spiraling hiatus.
As for the chapter itself, I won’t repeat myself too much from Discord, but it was a good return without visible post-hiatus rust. I liked the payoffs/confirmations here, NightKnight’s differing levels of self-awareness, and Rob’s subconscious desire to stop lying to everyone. Rob and NightKnight continue to have good parallels.
Hey! Been reading this series now for 10 years! It’s great and I’ll always keep coming back! I can imagine how bad the spiral can be, but I just wanted to say I really enjoy this story and hope it keeps going. 🙂
Ah, don’t worry about it. Most writers have been there, myself included, and I’d bet almost anyone working in a creative space has too. Creativity and drive doesn’t tend to die, it just hibernates for a while, and the best apology for not having updated anything for a while is to simply… well, do so! As you have, so no worries.
